Thoughts: 5 Hours Later

Well, we've all had way to much time to let this one sink in. Tonight absolutely sucked. What an awful night of hockey. I can't look at boxscores, I can't read game recaps and I certainly cannot watch Sportscenter or ESPNews. Just brutal.

BUT...

Lets take what happened tonight for what it's worth. Suppose the Rangers had held on to that lead and won the game 5-2. Yes, we would have been happy and yes, it would have been a big win. However, it would have just been one win in one measley regular season game. The loss needs to be looked at in the same way. Yes, we are upset and yes, it was a tough loss. But, it is just one loss in a regular season game.

We don't have to look further than one of our current players to remember one of the most heartbreaking losses in Rangers history in last year's playoffs (Chris Drury btw). From that game we know what utter dissapointment and sports depression feels like.

The game tonight...bad loss. But, I don't think it is going to matter in the long run. I am fairly confident in the Rangers playoff positioning and I don't think the loss of one point tonight will factor in the Rangers playoff standing. Hey, we can even take some positives away from tonight's game. How about that offense. Jagr put up some nice numbers and Dubinsky continues to impress. 3 POWERPLAY GOALS!!! Man was it a strange night.

Montreal had their night tonight. We'll get them back when it really counts. Tonight...don't sweat it.
