Recently I have been thinking about all these great extensions the Rangers have come up with. They are solidifying our future, which is obviously very important. I am still seeing one problem though. How could Avery feel with all these extensions going on around him and nothing happening with him? I haven't heard a single rumor or piece of news that any discussions have even been thought of. If you haven't realized, Avery is someone we need to keep. His offensive skills have definitely come to show themselves and his energy is one of a kind. Yea he caused a fight in practice and now he isn't talking to the media. You get the good with the bad. Right now, I feel the good far outweighs the bad and it's time to start working on keeping Avery for a couple more years.

I have actually heard some stuff about Avery. Right now he's down on the way he's playing and I think he wants to wait until his play improves to sign a bigger contract. Also, the financial situation between the Rangers and Avery is shaky at best as evidenced by last offseason's arbitration hearing. It's not that Sather doesn't want to sign Avery or Avery doesn't want to stay here, it's that they are both difficult people who continue to remain stubborn.
