Rangers vs Ducks - Second Period Thoughts

The Ducks announcers called this a perfect road game for the Ducks, and so far it is. The beginning was great for the Rangers. Those two fights energized the crowd and the team. Callahan put in an unbelievable shot. That’s how you shot the puck. Top corner and make it difficult for a goalie to stop. That’s the type of shot you need when you are playing a top notch team and goalie. Unfortunately after that goal the team decided to disappear.

The Rangers were playing so well. They had the crowd in it but you can't give up a 2 on 1 to a team who actually knows how to score. Look at what the Ducks did. They took advantage of their opportunities. A 2 on 1 in a great opportunity and they put in a great shot. They threw the puck in front of the net and got a rebound garbage goal. That’s how a quality team plays. They know how to score goals in situations where they should. The Rangers have had point blank chances and they just can't do it, they can't score. It's almost like they don’t want to. It's like they could care less about scoring. What you are watching is a quality team playing like they should and beating a team who just can't find their groove.
