Rangers at Flyers - First Period Thoughts

Not to much to complain about when you come out of the first period on the road with a lead. Nigel Dawes keeps coming through using both skill and effort, what else is new.

Two things of note:

1. Where did Stephen Valiquette come from? This guy has done everything that you can expect from a backup goalie. I hope he keeps this up, a guy who finally derserves a shot.

2. Jaromir Jagr needs to get a point in this game. I mean come on, what the hell is going on with this guy. There is a difference between not producing like he usually does and not producing at all. Jeez, a secondary assist is all I'm asking for. The top line of Gomez - Jagr - Straka has been invisible the past 6 games or so. Gomez keeps picking up points but many of those are products of goals and assists from players other than his linemates. I'm no coach but this is what I think:
Dawes - Dubinsky - Drury
Prucha - Straka - Jagr
Avery - Gomez - Callahan
Hollweg - Betts - Orr
First Line: Hardworking, North-American Style, drive to the net
Second Line: European/Czech Line, Make Jagr Comfortable, Straka or Pru at center
Third Line: I believe Gomez's line placement is flexible, he can create with anybody
Fourth Line: HBO Line
