According to Nhl.com, the New York Rangers have acquired St. Louis Blues defenseman Chrisitan Backman for a draft pick. Backman, a five year vet, has played in 45 games this season registering 1 goal and 9 assists along with 30 penalty minutes.
Immediate thoughts say solid trade. Will be a good addition to the third line D in place of Mara for the time being and eventually in place of Strudwick.
