Rangers @ Islanders - Second Period Thoughts

Rangers 2 Islanders 1

This period was a completely different story than the first. The Rangers took their foot off the pedal and the Isles took full advantage. The Rangers took 2 bad penalties to start the period, and although the Islanders weren't able to capitalize on either of them, it seemed to energize them a bit. They finally got on the board by a double deflection which nobody could have really done anything about. Every goal the Isles have scored the past 2 games have been because of deflections.

Thankfully the Rangers killed off Avery's bonehead penalty towards the end of the period to keep the lead intact.

If the Rangers have any plans of winning this game they better start playing like they did in the first and put in some of their penalties. Another period like this and they will surely fall to 0-3 against Dubie-whatever. The Rangers will be starting the period on the power play so maybe that will be able to get them going along with the little flurry they had to end this period.

Step it up.
