Bruins at Rangers - First Period Thoughts

The Rangers outplayed the Bruins that period without question. The problem is that simply outplaying the Bruins in this particular game is not good enough. Considering the Rangers placement behind the Bruins in the standings and the absence of big D-man Chara from Boston's lineup this is a game the Rangers must have.

Points are at a premium at this point in the playoff race and when you play a good period it is vital to capitalize on opportunities. The Bruins are a tired shorthanded team playing on the road. The Rangers need to come out in the second and run Boston out of the garden. The powerplay has looked good but has yet to be productive. Nigel Dawes, receiving well deserved powerplay time, has continued to impress.

No messing around, this is a game the Rangers should win.
